Jack's restaurant was the best part of the trip. The four of us spent £100 on food and drinks on the first night, and the pork belly was amazing. Portions were generous, everyone liked their meals, and there was a gluten-free option. The staff were lovely too. The park itself looked nice, and we enjoyed seeing the animals. Our fishing lodge was cosy, warm, and had good hot showers, just as I expected, though it wasn't a five-star hotel. There were ladybirds in the room, but I suppose they settle in warm places at this time of year. The WiFi was unusable, so Netflix wasn't an option, though live TV worked. We fished for three days without a single bite. We used sonar to check the swims and found nothing; maybe the water was too cold in February. Still, for what we paid, it was a lovely little getaway and we were happy. Dogs are allowed, too.

The bed made this a no-go for me. Its very springy mattress left us with sore backs, there was no mattress protector, and the wooden panel at the foot made it too short for anyone tall. The little pull-out sofa bed was thin and uncomfortable as well. I need a decent night's sleep to enjoy a break, and after getting about four hours with springs digging into my ribs and back, I was tired, achy, and moody the next day. We won't return, which is a shame because the rest was great. There was also a main road right beside the park, with plenty of noise from lorries and loud cars. Our lakeside cabin itself was warm and welcoming, with parking and everything we needed in the kitchen and bathroom. Staff were friendly and helpful, the grounds were clean, and it was a very dog-friendly place. The scenery was lovely, with walking areas, lakes, and a small petting farm. Food and drinks were nice, though a little pricey.

The paths made for a lovely, relaxing walk, and the lakes were beautiful and peaceful. We had a great stay at Woodlakes, with a calm atmosphere and everything seeming well cared for. It was a lovely place to unwind and enjoy the scenery. We had a wonderful time and are already looking forward to coming back.

We were glad the cabin was enclosed for our dog, and Jack's restaurant was a real highlight. The food was incredible, the staff were welcoming, and we could bring the dog inside. We stayed in the modern, clean oasis cabin with a hot tub. There was enough room for four, and the heating worked well in winter. We used the tub several times; it was a good size and temperature. A few more kitchen items, like baking trays, would have helped, and the oven was awkward to use. Those were small things we could have planned around if we'd known. The bigger surprise was that WiFi was only available in the public areas, not in the cabins. We hadn't realised, though being offline did give us a chance to relax.

We had a quiet, relaxing stay, with pleasant, helpful staff and a clean cabin that was equipped well enough for a short visit. The private sauna was enjoyable, if a little cramped, and Jack's restaurant on site was pretty good, with generous portions and prices in line with what you'd expect. Sleep was less comfortable: the bed's springs were easy to feel. The so-called hot tub felt more like a jetted bath. There was plenty of hot water to fill it, but once it cooled, refilling took around 30 minutes. If you need a dark room to sleep, bring an eye mask. The cabin WiFi was patchy, though your experience may vary.
