St Cyrus Village Inn

The Sirloin Steak and Steak Pie were both so good that we’re already looking forward to coming back. The smell of my steak as it arrived had me expecting a treat, and it was every bit as delicious as I hoped. It’s been years since I’ve had steak that good. Dessert was just as tasty. We also had great service, so compliments to our waiter and the Chef. We’re very happy to recommend the St Cyrus Village Inn Restaurant.

We didn’t win the quiz, unfortunately, but being invited to join the locals made for a lovely evening. We were in the area with our motorhome and stopped for dinner on quiz night. The group made us feel at home straight away, and Dee Dee deserves a special mention for keeping an eye on everything and looking after guests tirelessly, always with a smile. The staff were brilliant. The food is hearty pub grub, especially the steak pie, and you won’t leave hungry. Some parts of the hotel are dated, but that village pub feel really works. Book ahead for dinner. If we’re back nearby, we’ll head straight there.

I stopped for one night while working nearby and had no complaints. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, and both dinner and breakfast were good. They were redecorating the accommodation during my visit, which gave it a more modern feel. Parking is behind the Inn, with space for around 10-15 vehicles. I’d stay here again.

We ate here on both nights, and I particularly liked having a meal in the snug. It’d be a lovely spot for dinner with friends or family. The pub and restaurant felt welcoming and were efficiently run. The food was good value, even if it wasn’t especially fancy and the portions weren’t huge. I enjoyed both meals, especially the homemade lasagna and sticky toffee pudding with custard. There were plenty of fish choices, though not many vegetarian ones, and a halloumi burger would be a welcome addition. I don’t think the menu had side dishes, which was a pity, and the starters didn’t tempt me. Garlic mushrooms or smoked salmon salad might have. Maybe I’m being picky, but I’d recommend a visit and suggest asking for a table in the snug. I didn’t use the washrooms, but the rest seemed clean, and the tables were sprayed and wiped between customers. The chairs were comfortable. Parking is tight for a big car, though there are side roads nearby.
