The Waterside Bar Rooms & Restaurant

The staff were amazing, and nothing was too much trouble. My room was beautiful with lovely, unique touches and a view over the canal. The bed and pillows were extremely comfortable, and there was a coffee machine and kettle. I stayed for a wedding and will definitely return. Five stars.

The way guests are greeted sets the first impression. We walked in around 6pm yesterday with two friends who used to live in the area over 60 years ago. We'd heard good things about the Sunday lunch. Since they were travelling and their arrival time was uncertain, I hadn't booked. We saw a few empty tables and asked for a table for three. The young woman checked briefly and said everything was booked. No alternative or possible solution was offered, such as temporarily adding another chair. After 40 years in customer service, I was disappointed by the lack of it here. We went to a lovely Italian meal instead, where the staff were assertive, attentive, polite, and professional from the moment we arrived. Well done, Eden, your staff are getting customer service right. In reply to you Jo, if a meal is served promptly, you can finish it within an hour. There were tables where you could have added a chair, while taking accessibility and fire regulations into account. That would have taken some thought and action. Reading other reviews, it also seems management training and involvement are lacking. Kind regards.

The venue looks amazing after its refurbishment, and everyone there seemed to be having a great time. Our food was fantastic, and the staff were so attentive, bringing drinks as soon as we needed a refill. They were accommodating for the two of us who were vegetarian. I’ll definitely come back and would recommend it to anyone heading to Monton for food or drinks.

The venue is lovely, and the staff were genuinely friendly and quick to help, including the bar team even though it was packed. The prawn melon cocktail was delicious, and my daughter’s salt and pepper wings were amazing, generously coated in sauce with plenty of peppers. I wish my salt and pepper chicken main had been served the same way. I’d pre-ordered expecting proper chicken with skin and lots of peppers and onions, but got dry frozen battered chunks, just four pieces of red pepper, a few strands of onion, and a little pot of sauce that barely covered two or three pieces. The rice was too firm as well. I’d been looking forward to the meal all week, so it was a shame that the main let down an otherwise lovely day.
