42 Apart Hotel

I was glad to be there for just one night. The room was dirty, hot, dark and dingy, with no air conditioning. It seemed to be used as a halfway house. At £96 a night with no breakfast, it was far too expensive. The place badly needs updating and redecorating. I don't understand the good reviews, and wouldn't recommend staying here.

I booked this for one of our engineers, and his experience was awful. The fridge smelled strongly of mould, and the blinds broke when he tried to close them, so he had to stand on a chair to fix them. His towel was on the floor behind the bathroom door, covered in what looked like excrement. There was no milk for a morning brew either. Booking.com listed breakfast as included, but when our engineers went down, he was rudely told there was none for him because it had to be requested the night before. Nobody had told him that at check-in. He couldn't have a brew, shower, or breakfast, and had to drive around looking for a cafe. We're very disappointed, he's asked us never to book this property for our engineers again, and we're seeking a refund.

We slept really well after a busy evening at the “Bath Halls”. The room was a bit warm, though there was a fan provided. Beds were clean and comfy, and check-in is available 24 hours. There was parking outside, little touches in the room and plenty of bottled water. The continental breakfast had a wide choice too. Really pleased with the stay.

I left after the first night of a four-night booking. The corridors smelled awful, and the rooms were dark, too hot and had no ventilation. The bathroom was disgusting, with a broken shower and rusty taps. That green light in the room kept bothering me, so I barely slept. The pictures make the place look fancy, but it felt completely unwelcoming and dirty. I left the keys at reception the next morning and couldn't put up with the smell or the atmosphere any longer.
