The man who answered the phone was pleasant, but dinner was a frustrating experience. We ordered two roasts and two beers, then I asked for a large glass of tap water with lemon and no ice. First I got a tiny bottle of water and a small glass packed with ice and a lemon slice. After I explained again, the same glass came back with only about an inch of water in it. The beef was thinly sliced. A bit from the edge was okay, but most of it was fatty and gristly, so I took it home for the dog. The potatoes were hard in the middle and seemed to have been cooked three times. The roast came without English mustard, too. It felt like being back at school. The scruffy, bossy woman behind the bar, who looked to be in her late 30s, told us to sit down when we went to see what beers they had. There were lots of young staff who seemed untrained and thrown in at the deep end. They need training, and they need to listen to customers.

We keep going back on Saturday mornings for breakfast. It's good quality food for the price, and Freya always makes us feel welcome. I'm glad they carried on serving it through the winter.

We just turned up without booking and were lucky to get in. The Sunday roast was delicious, with generous portions and plenty to choose from. The staff were so friendly and accommodating that we'll definitely be back.

The vegetarian burger was a nice surprise, full of vegetables instead of the processed meat you find everywhere. The restaurant has a lovely atmosphere, with friendly waiting staff, and being in an old cinema gives the building a great feel. Really good food, I'd recommend it.

We had a very comfortable stay in clean, spacious accommodation, and it was quiet at night. The kitchen was handy, especially with tea bags and UHT milk provided so we didn't have to go out and buy them. The staff were really friendly, and we enjoyed a good evening meal. We'd definitely come back.
