The Black Bull Inn

The beer was really good and the food was first class. The staff were so friendly and welcoming, and did everything they could for us. I'd recommend it to anyone, 10/10. It's a shame we don't live nearby, or we'd make it a regular place.

The portions were generous and the food was absolutely delicious. It was busy, so there was a bit of a wait, but a drink was brought over to our table and we felt welcome. We couldn't manage pudding, sadly. We'll be back very soon.

Some people at our table had been regulars for years, but they felt things had gone downhill after what seems to be a change in management. They even apologized for choosing the place and won't return. Our own meal was poor too, and quite expensive for a local pub. Service was slow, and we had to keep asking about our food, which arrived 1.5 hours after we ordered. The explanation was that it was "busy".

We ended up having to look elsewhere for lunch, and won't be back. We'd booked for Sunday afternoon, then found out on arrival that only carvery was available. That could have been fine, except they'd run out of meat. We were offered one slice of ham and the end of a beef joint that looked past its best. There was also a problem with the wine. The young waitress apologized, but the manager ? said nothing.
