The friendly staff really make this place, and they worked hard to make our breaks easy and enjoyable. I've now stayed at Daishs Shanklin three times and have another booking in. It’s good value for a four-night stay, and it doesn’t claim to be five-star, just does what’s needed so guests can relax. The inn is in Shanklin old village, in a lovely spot with good bus connections. It’s an old coaching inn, so finding your way around can feel a bit confusing, and the room numbers seem random. There’s a broad staircase up three floors and a lift that holds three people. Downstairs you’ll find a decent-sized bar and entertainment room, a coffee shop, three little alcove rooms with armchairs, and a restaurant with one large room and two smaller ones. Rooms come with single, double or twin beds, and a few sleep three. They’re suitable for most people’s needs and all have an ensuite, wardrobe, dressing table and mirror, chairs, suitable power sockets, a kettle with tea and coffee, and a hairdryer. Everything was clean, and you can choose how often your room is serviced. Staff try to meet specific requests. Most guests arrive by coach, as the hotel is owned by Daish's Holidays. Meals have set times and tables are allocated.

The room was very comfortable and had an ensuite bathroom, and the staff and service were great. I’d still come back, and we enjoyed our Isle of Wight trip. We’ve stayed at several Daish's hotels and came here on a four-night coach break. This Shanklin hotel is decent enough at the cheaper end of the market. The food was probably the worst we’ve had at a Daish's, though. It was a bit bland, and boiled potatoes seemed to come with everything. Maybe that was part of the turkey and tinsel theme. Some evenings were better than others, but breakfast wasn’t much better, so we ate out one night. Shanklin’s shops are a short stroll away, though the walk down to the seafront is steep. There’s also a useful train station in Shanklin for getting to Ryde.

The room looked a little tired, but it was clean, the shower worked very well, and the maid service was good. The location in town was handy, with buses only a short walk away. We stayed very recently and had a great time. The food was excellent in both quality and quantity, and the staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble. Conner deserves a special mention as our waiter, he was so good and caring. It was excellent value for money.

We spent eight nights here. The bed was really comfortable, and the room had an ensuite shower bathroom. Staff were excellent, and meals were always palatable, with at least three or four choices. Dinner follows a four-day menu cycle. It’s a fairly comfortable option at the cheaper end of the market. Parking is limited, and the hotel has carts for perhaps clubs, so most guests seem to come by coach. Shanklin shops are downhill, and the walk down to the beach is steep. There’s a lift for getting back up if you don’t fancy the climb, for a small charge.

The bar payment setup was a bit of a nuisance: card payments needed a £5 spend, while the beers were £4.95. They’d clearly worked that out, 🤔 though cash was accepted. After the first evening meal, everything was very good and the food was lovely. I’d come again.
