Alara Bed and Breakfast

The bus and tram services make getting to and from the city centre really easy, with plenty of frequent options. I found this place by chance and I'm so glad I stayed. The room was lovely and the staff were warm and friendly. Tammy deserves a special mention for being so helpful and nice. I'd definitely stay again. Thanks from Stephen from Glasgow.

We arrived on Saturday night for the Sheffield speedway after changing our plans at the last minute. We booked online while travelling and, since we were coming via Manchester and would be late, called ahead. They confirmed check-in was available 24 hours. The owner greeted us warmly when we got there, and check-in was simple with friendly staff. The room was immaculate, tidy and very clean, and the beds were comfortable. We decided to have breakfast for £7 each, which seemed great value for a full English plus continental options. Tammy welcomed us the next morning, took our order, showed us what was available at the continental breakfast and cooked our meal. She was pleasant and friendly the whole time. Breakfast was delicious, and she also gave us tips for seeing Sheffield during the few spare hours we had. We're already planning to book again when we come for the speedway. A brilliant find, highly recommend.

I was quoted £120 for two nights for me and Mrs when I phoned. But when I arrived, nobody was at reception, so I booked somewhere else. Alara gets a big fat zero from me.

A friendly and helpful welcome from the staff, who even arranged a taxi to the train station for the morning. This is a charming little B&B with plenty of character, though don't expect the Hilton. My room was tidy, with fresh linen and clean towels, plus a TV and tea and coffee facilities. The breakfast bar had enough to set me up for the day. Just right for an overnight stop, and I'd use it again if I return to Hillsborough.
