Days Inn by Wyndham Sheffield M1

The reception staff were lovely and friendly, and my room was very clean. I felt ripped off by the extra £5 parking charge, especially as a blue badge holder. I’d already booked and paid for the room and couldn’t cancel by the time I found out about the charge, which was only at check-in, close to midnight for me. Breakfast was also £2 more through the hotel than if paid directly at the services. Getting there meant a precarious walk, and the services only had fast food and expensive sandwiches at Waitrose. There’s little else nearby for food. A pub is a 12-minute walk along roads without pavements, but it only serves basic bar food at limited times on certain weekdays. The days and hours are written on a chalkboard outside, despite what its website and Google say, and there’s no food at all on Sundays. You can get straight onto the motorway from this nice, affordable place. The rooms have showers and proper baths, though the baths are shallow. It’s generally quiet, but ask for a room on the car park side if you can, as rooms facing the motorway can be a bit noisy.

After a long drive and a day at work, this was a good place to stop. The rooms are larger, the shower’s good, and there’s a hot tub. Parking is good, and you can walk around on the grass. Plenty of food options, free internet too, and good value for money.

The room was clean, the bed was comfortable, and the staff were friendly. It was better than I expected and really good value. I’d happily stay again.
