Good location, with several shops nearby, but I had a very poor experience and wouldn't recommend booking here. I arrived to move in on a weekend. Nobody had told me reception closes after 5 PM and is shut all weekend, or that there is no on-site security. Other places with similar reception hours usually have security. I was left outside with all my luggage until a resident let me in. Inside, the reception door needed a key too. There were no instructions, emergency contact details or student warden number displayed. I called at least 15 times before the warden finally answered and I got my key. It was extremely stressful and unprofessional, especially for international students. The building is very old and poorly converted. My room was dirty when I arrived, the toilet hadn't been cleaned, and oily residue in the carpet took three cleaning attempts to remove. Rubbish is collected only once a week. You can ask for an earlier collection, but there's no bin room, and on collection days rubbish fills the corridors and causes bad smells and hygiene problems. Cooking smells constantly spread through the corridors because residents leave doors open to avoid setting off the very sensitive fire alarms. Those alarms go off often late at night, sometimes after midnight. The shared water system means hot water is limited in winter. During one of the coldest winters, my heater stopped working and I waited days for a replacement. For the first few months, residents were repeatedly made to leave their rooms for 8-9 hours for maintenance. That's completely unacceptable. The staff were decent, but the building is outdated, and the lift is slow and unreliable. I paid £149 a week, the worst £149 I've ever spent. Even after the price dropped to £99, it still wasn't worth it. Poor organisation, no security, hygiene issues, constant disruptions and outdated facilities. Avoid this accommodation at all costs.

My time at The Moor made my student year memorable, and I had a fantastic experience. The site team were consistently patient and helpful, and I really appreciate that. I was puzzled by some of the negative comments. Technical problems can happen anywhere people live, and residents also have a responsibility to look after the property and prevent issues. For me, The Moor accommodation was a 10/10 and an outstanding place to thrive as a student. I couldn't have asked for a better home that year.

I lived here for a year, and it was a nightmare. The accommodation felt very unsafe. The downstairs door was broken and wouldn't lock for months. Even after it was fixed, homeless men kept getting into the building and sleeping in the corridors. A cockroach infestation was dismissed for months, then handled badly. Harmful gases also leaked, and some people had to breathe them in their rooms for weeks. The lift was broken most of the year, so people moving in had to carry suitcases up several flights of stairs. The rooms are far smaller than the pictures suggest. In a standard room, it's four steps from the front door to the bed and zero steps wide. The bathroom is about the size of a plane toilet. Being right in the city centre means constant noise if you face the main street, from people shouting, playing music or protesting. Facing the parking lot means hearing cars coming and going all the time. That side also feels dangerous because the window opens straight onto the parking lot, so people can easily get into your room and you have no privacy. The staff tried to help but couldn't do their jobs very well. Staff were constantly fired and replaced, sometimes with months before a replacement arrived, making it hard to find a manager on shift to deal with problems. The contract doesn't legally protect you, so even with all these issues it's hard to move out or get your money back. The Collegiate business doesn't care about residents' wellbeing or safety. I'm sure things won't improve over the coming years, and the same or new problems will keep coming up. You've been warned. Book at your own risk.

I had a great stay at "The Moor Collegiate" in Sheffield. The staff were helpful and friendly, and the location was convenient. My room was clean and spacious, with excellent amenities. It felt safe and comfortable. I'd highly recommend it to students and professionals.

I had a positive stay at the Moor Accommodation. The location was convenient, the place was clean, modern and spacious, and the staff were friendly. It had all the necessary amenities. I'd recommend the Moor Accommodation to others and would likely stay again in the future.
