Holiday Inn London - Shepperton by IHG

The vegetarian choices at dinner were very limited, with no basic option like a veggie burger or lasagne, so that let the meal down for one person in our group. The service itself was friendly and attentive, especially from Ishma and her colleagues. We stayed for a two night family trip to London. The hotel was easy to drive to, with a quick taxi ride to the station and then a train to Waterloo. Our rooms were clean, tidy and well equipped, and we enjoyed the pool and gym. The staff were welcoming, especially Tea when she checked us in. I’d give the stay 4 out of 5.

The hotel’s refusal to take cash really disappointed us. We always pay that way and see it as a way of keeping some freedom; if more businesses stop accepting it, we worry that spending will be tracked and controlled. We’re looking forward to visiting again, but only while cash is accepted. We had a very good stay at the shepperton Holiday inn. It looks lovely beside the lakes, and the service was the best part. Waleed at reception helped when I couldn’t sleep the first night: he kindly moved me to a room without noisy neighbours, heated some milk and brought it up to me. Melroy also helped us work through a couple of things that came up. Thanks to the chef as well, dinner was really tasty.

The staff made this a pleasant stop. They were welcoming even while working over Christmas, and when I left my jacket in the bar they kept it safe and returned it. The bar itself was nice, and breakfast was good, though check carefully whether it’s included. I booked two rooms and breakfast came with one but not the other. It’s a clean, professional, practical place for a short stop or a business trip. The room was basic, and paying for one premium and one standard room didn’t seem to get us much difference. Staff said the premium one had a fridge and was slightly bigger, but apart from the fridge I couldn’t tell. I wouldn’t pay to upgrade. The Christmas rate was extremely high for this kind of hotel, and even staff seemed surprised by the prices. The shower also left water everywhere each time.

The hall was laid out well, with plenty of seating so guests weren’t crowded together, plus a dance floor and projector for the presentation. There was a spacious reception and a separate waiting area for arriving guests, with access to an outdoor section if needed. The facilities were excellent, and the helpful, friendly staff were fabulous.
