That view of Glastonbury Tor was such a lovely thing to wake up to, and our deluxe room was possibly the biggest hotel room I’ve ever stayed in. We booked a last-minute night away directly with The Crossways, and arranging it was easy, friendly and really attentive. Booking direct is worth it for the best deal, too. We’d mentioned that it was my partner’s birthday, so the team had left a bottle of wine in the room. Such a thoughtful touch. We had a drink in the bar before dinner, and the Bloody Mary was especially fun. Dinner was lovely, and breakfast the next morning set us up nicely for our trip to Wookey Hole Caves, which I’d recommend if you’re nearby. The atmosphere, views and kind hospitality made it a memorable stay. We’d happily return.

The atmosphere and service at Crossways are still great, and the place itself is lovely. I used to work here years ago and have always enjoyed it, so yesterday’s carvery (08/03) was a real letdown. For £18.95, I got frozen vegetables and stuffing balls so hard they hurt my teeth. The meat was the only thing that seemed fresh to me, and a few others felt the same. The rest was soulless, almost like mortar, and shocking. They used to put real effort into the carvery. Now it feels like everything’s just been put in the oven and left on the hot plate. I don’t know what happened, but it was absolutely rubbish.

The room was spacious, clean and comfortable, and the staff were pleasant. The surroundings are picturesque too. At first glance, the hotel looks fantastic, but dinner really let it down for me. Even though I was dining alone, I waited a long time after ordering. Then the food arrived at a low standard. The £30 sirloin was said to be locally sourced, but it definitely wasn’t a high quality steak. The chips and onion rings didn’t seem freshly prepared either, more like something from an air fryer. It has the makings of a fantastic little hotel, but my dining experience was a big disappointment.

The team made our baby shower with friends and family such an enjoyable, memorable occasion. My husband and I had spoken privately with the food and beverages manager beforehand, and he listened to every request. We had access to one of the beautifully decorated dining rooms and could decorate it as we wanted. On the day, the staff were brilliant: they put water jugs on the tables, cleared the plates promptly, and even cut our cake and served it on boards with plates and cutlery. Thank you for having us at The Crossways. The service was outstanding.

The rooms were roomy, clean and well equipped, with comfortable beds. There’s plenty of free parking, plus charging points for electric cars, and the food was very good. It’s a peaceful spot out in the sticks, with a balcony looking over Somerset towards Glastonbury tor and beyond. Everyone on staff was wonderful. When a taxi let us down, they got us out of a real sticky spot and couldn’t have been quicker or friendlier about helping us. We had a lovely time, and I loved your sense of humour. Thank you, Crossways!
