We’ve stayed at the Rose and Crown twice and would happily go again, if only to say hello to Sassy the cat. The staff are quick to respond and genuinely try to make your stay comfortable. On our first visit there were a few minor issues, but they were fixed promptly, which showed us how good the service is. We stayed in Trent Barrow first, a small, cosy room that was nicely presented and perfectly adequate. The second time we had Queen Thorne, which was much roomier and felt luxurious, with a huge shower and a very large bath. Both rooms had tasteful decor and plenty of tea, coffee and biscuits. The pub is welcoming, with a good but slightly limited menu, and the breakfast was excellent. At around £30 it’s on the expensive side, but the quality and generous portions made it worthwhile. Everything is cooked fresh to order and made how you like it. There was plenty of parking, and the quiet spot is about 5-10 minutes’ drive from the town centre. The garden is spacious and lovely, especially at night with the lights. We’d recommend it for a cosy countryside break.

The roast here is the best around, and dogs are welcome too. The staff are lovely, and the food is seriously good and delicious. I even took a photo of the dessert because it looked so beautiful, and it tasted great as well.

There’s a walk through the fields just behind the pub, which was great for taking the dog out after lunch. We brought our dog along and found the place very dog friendly. The Sunday roast was really good, with generous servings and plenty of gravy, unlike some other places. I’d definitely recommend it and will return.

Amelia was so helpful and accommodating, especially with our short-notice booking, and made the whole process stress-free. We held a small wedding reception at the Rose and Crown and couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The food was fantastic, and every guest commented on it. The staff went above and beyond to make the day special. The warm, welcoming setting and beautiful surroundings were just right for us. Several guests have since said they’ll come back, calling it a wonderful hidden gem they hadn’t heard of before. We’re grateful to everyone at the Rose and Crown for the memories, and can’t wait to visit again.

We only stayed one night, though we’d have gladly stayed longer. The room was lovely and well equipped, and the pub had lots of dogs, friendly customers and staff. The owners were wonderful and very accommodating. Kelsey, Ebony & Cerys all made sure we were looked after. Dinner was delicious and breakfast was exceptionally good. I’ll be telling everyone I know about this place, and hope to visit again.
