Those breakfasts really made the weekend feel special. Kim and Richard thought of everything, including a great vegan breakfast for me each morning, while the rest of us enjoyed a full Yorkshire breakfast one day, then breakfast buns and continental options. We stayed three nights with my parents for a family wedding, and the cottage was clean, tidy and had everything we needed. Both en-suites were lovely, and the upstairs bedroom had gorgeous views. We’d happily come back. Thank you!

There are lovely walks right from the door, and Castle Howard is only two miles away. We enjoyed our stay and the breakfast, and the hosts were very friendly. The bathroom was spacious with a good shower. Just a couple of small things: the camper van blocked the only view from the downstairs bedroom, and the bed squeaked when you rolled over.

The rooms were spotless and nicely finished, with a touch of luxury. We also loved watching the birds in the garden, including a woodpecker, while Richard and Kim put together a fantastic breakfast: fresh fruit, yoghurt, and well-cooked poached eggs with good bacon and sausages. Richard even brought us fresh cucumbers! We were there for a family stay around my 70th birthday, and it was lovely to get away from the York races crowds, where we’d actually been in the middle of things. The next day we were well placed to enjoy the countryside. Richard planned an easy circular walk and joined us for the first part, stick in hand to fend off predators. There weren’t any, just a few nettles. They’re very friendly people and deserve the business.

The location worked really well for exploring, with Castle Howard, Ripon, York, Rievaulx and Whitby all among the places we visited. The surrounding landscape is stunning, and Richard and Kim made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. Their house is lovely, and the breakfasts they make are delicious. Congratulations!

We got stuck there in the snow this week, and Kim made sure we had what we needed and stayed warm and comfortable. It’s a lovely place, very clean, with a comfortable bed, and it’s very dog friendly. I’d definitely recommend staying there.
