The garden and rooms are beautiful, and the bed linen and towels feel wonderfully luxurious. Breakfast is cooked just right, and Andrew and James are such perfect hosts. I've stayed three times now and keep wanting to come back. I wouldn't choose anywhere else. Can't wait for my next visit.

Breakfast was superb, with fresh local ingredients and such generous portions. Nothing seemed too much trouble. The property is immaculate and the bed was really comfortable, too. Andrew and James are fantastic hosts. It's on a quiet, peaceful street, just a five minute walk into town. Easily the best B&B we've stayed in.

My partner and I have already booked another stay. Alton house is spotless, with spacious rooms and amazing attention to detail. James and Andrew are remarkable people, and the most incredible hosts, always happy to help and have a laugh. I can't think of a single bad thing about this beautiful B&B. Words don't really cover how perfect our two days there were. K & K

James and Andrew were friendly and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. The cooked breakfast was really nice, and there's parking on site. The rooms, decor, furnishings and bed linen all show lovely attention to detail and quality. I stayed at Byfords, a posh B and B in Holt, last year, but Alton house beats it hands down for quality and care. What a lovely find. I'll definitely stay again.

There are loads of walks starting right outside, with many more nearby, and the town centre is only a few minutes away. The Annexe worked perfectly for self-catering, with everything we needed and very high quality fittings and equipment. The owners are on site if you need them, but leave you to yourself. Fantastic in every way, we'd give it more than five stars if we could.
