The George Townhouse

We both had steaks for dinner, cooked just right, and there was plenty of variety on the evening menu. Breakfast also had a good selection of hot food made to order. The staff were excellent, and our spacious room had a large bathroom with a freestanding bath, luxury toiletries and a heated towel rail. One of the best places I’ve stayed, and very good value.

We came to town for a meeting and stayed three nights, and it felt like home. The George is a real treasure, cozy, clean and welcoming, with that holiday movie feel. Adam, the supervisor, made us feel at home from the start and made the stay magical. Chiara, the exec Manager, was so kind, and Sharon made breakfast a joy. The whole team helped make it special. We’re grateful for the visit and will be back.

We’ve enjoyed coming here before, but this visit left us disappointed. One dish wasn’t cooked properly, so we sent it back. The young server seemed hesitant to take it, and I had to explain that my wife wouldn’t eat it as it was. When the new wings came, we were told the chef cooks them that way because the meat is brown. I’ve made wings at home and eaten them elsewhere, and they haven’t been raw. I wouldn’t order them here again.

Our server was absolutely lovely, and the staff made us feel welcome. We’d pre-ordered food for our group of 11, and it arrived quickly and looked stunning. They kept on top of our drinks, and when we accidentally ordered a dessert, sending it back was no problem at all. A lovely atmosphere. Highly recommend.
