Rectory Cottage

The cottage is fitted out and furnished to a very high standard, with WiFi and Sky TV if you're not out enjoying the lovely area. I stayed for a week in June and can happily recommend it to visitors. There's off-street parking and a good local pub within walking distance. It is an old character cottage, so the bathroom is downstairs and the stairs are steep; they may not suit young children or anyone with mobility issues. My wife and I aren't exactly spring chickens, but we managed OK.

The peaceful location made this cosy character cottage a great escape from the rat race. There are ideal dog walks through fields to the canal, and you can walk for miles. Ellesmere is a 15-minute drive away, with a walk around the Mere, while the local pub and shop are also within walking distance. The main bedroom has a huge, comfortable bed, and there's a pretty courtyard with room for two cars. Friendly chickens came to greet us most mornings and somehow didn't wander through the gates. A big thank you to Jo (owner), who happily moved her car to make room for a visit from our daughter-in-law and baby, and also left us a welcome package and biscuits for the pooch.

First time here and I love this little place. It's so pretty and quiet, and inside the cottage is beautiful, with a mix of old and modern furnishings.
