We had good pub food, though it was a little pricey, and there isn't much else nearby for an evening out pub-wise. The setting is lovely, the restaurant comfortable, and there's off-street parking. Staff were friendly and helpful, especially Amanda O. The room was comfortable and had an ensuite and tea and coffee facilities, but the lack of windows and air wasn't to my personal taste. There's just glass in the door, with obscure fenestation, though others may not mind. We enjoyed a good walk to the church and church farm before breakfast. Breakfast was good too, with cooked food, yoghurt and toast, and plenty of flexibility to choose.

Beware. I recently booked to stay at The Haughmond, but accidentally chose the night before because the buttons are so small. I understood being charged for the room, but they also charged me for meals we would have had if we'd stayed. There are other excellent restaurants and hotels locally with excellent customer service, so I'd book one of those if I were you.

The waiting staff were friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious from start to finish. The menu had something for everyone, though choosing was hard because it all sounded so good. The attention to detail when the dishes arrived was amazing, and eating them exceeded all expectations. One of the best meals we've had.

The staff were courteous and the service was good, but the evening meal was really poor. All the dishes we tried were low quality and badly executed, and the prices felt exceptionally high for what was on our plates. There was also loud, annoying pop music playing in the background. Don't come expecting the standard from the previous ownership.

This was our fourth visit, but I doubt we'll return. The food was good and the service okay, yet the 10% gratuity added to the bill, introduced at the hardest time for customers, left a sour taste. This isn't America where waitresses live off their tips. They had no Rosé by the glass, and £8.95 for a medium glass of house pinot is steep. Prices seem rounded up across the board now: £10 each for starters, £25 for main roasts and £10 each for puddings. The new owner seems a bit aloof, and from the replies to reviews, seems to be losing it too 😔
