We went for a meal in January. The pub was quiet, the welcome was friendly, and the pub food was good quality. Portions were huge and prices reasonable. I'd go again.

The car park slopes and has loose chippings instead of tarmac, so take care if you're arriving by motorbike, as all four of us were. There's also a busy campsite beside the pub, and people come over for the food and drinks, so booking a table during the main holiday season is a good idea. We stopped overnight on a Saturday with three friends and found the staff very welcoming. Our rooms were lovely and clean, with comfy beds, and we ate at the pub. The fish and chips portions were huge, and my two friends who had them said they tasted as good as they looked. The chicken parmo was very good too, toasted under the grill so the cheese was like Welsh Rarebit, yum! There were nice vegetarian choices, and the veggie in our group was very happy. Breakfast was lovely as well, and the lady looking after us was friendly and helpful, which isn't always the case at 8:30 on a Sunday morning. A lovely, friendly, well-run pub. We'll definitely be back!

We’re looking forward to visiting again. This lovely pub has a warm, familiar atmosphere, friendly staff, fair prices and very tasty meals. It's in the North York Moors Nationalpark, just a few miles from Whitby.

I've stayed here a couple of times in recent years when visiting Yorkshire with friends and family. The rooms are comfortable and tastefully designed, and it's dog friendly, which is always a plus. They also do the best full English breakfast I've ever had.

The staff were polite, friendly and welcoming all week. The bar and restaurant had a great atmosphere, and the food was delicious. Our room was exceptionally clean and a relaxing place to come back to after long days exploring. Thanks for a wonderful stay. We'll definitely return.
