The room was traditional in style but spotless, with everything I needed. The host was attentive: when I arrived after a long drive and my room wasn't ready, he made me tea and brought it on a lovely tray with milk and all the extras. I also left my purse, with spare cards and cash, in a bedroom drawer. John called me and posted it back without charging me. Great service, thank you. Being able to leave the car and walk 20 minutes into the city centre was very useful too.

The room was excellent, and the bed was very comfortable. I think the bathroom may have been brand new. It takes about 5-10 minutes on foot to reach the central station, bus stops, and taxis, with CoOp and Tesco mini stores beside the station. The town centre is another 10-15 minutes uphill. Breakfast starts early and smelled lovely as it was being cooked, though I didn't stop to eat. I couldn't decide between four or five stars for each category. Better weather and trains without a partial strike might have lifted my mood.

The room was clean and had good amenities, and breakfast was tasty for a reasonable price. The host was friendly, responsive, and actually on site. One of the best B&Bs I've stayed in for years. I'd come back.
