The owners made me feel so welcome, and their home-cooked breakfast was fantastic. I ordered a full English the night before and could customise it, then it was served early enough for my morning Personal Survival Training course at Fire Aid. The Fire Aid building was only a 10-minute walk away. I stayed two nights, and though the room was on the small side, it had real charm and comfort, with the kind of care you don't get in a large hotel. Hythe is pleasant too, with plenty of amenities and lovely views of Southhampton across the water.

The bacon was good quality and the scrambled eggs were made properly, no watery hotel stuff. The standard was still excellent, just like when I stayed 8 years ago. Highly recommend.

Elizabeth & Martin will take good care of you at Maples, a great base for visiting the New Forest. I've stayed in rooms 1, 2, 6 and 7 over the last few weeks, and they've all been clean and tidy. Breakfast is great too.

The owners were very welcoming, and I got the sense they'd help if anything went wrong. My room was fine and the facilities were a good standard, though the electric shower seems sensitive to water use elsewhere, I think they all are. I was here for 4 nights while attending courses at Fire Aid around the corner. Shops were convenient, and there were enough nearby dinner choices that I didn't have to walk far or eat at the same place twice. I didn't use the internet, but it was available. I'd certainly stay again.

I stayed at The Maples Guest house for a weekend and had great service. Breakfast was served, with vegetarian choices, and they had an option for me as a vegan too. I had mushrooms, grilled tomatoes, toast and excellent black coffee. I'd happily return and recommend it to a friend.
