The rooms had so many thoughtful extras from Cloe: slippers, dressing gowns, a beer fridge with very reasonable prices, complimentary water, chocolates and biscuits, and even moisturiser for hands and legs. The breakfast was lovely, with several kinds of bread. The couple who own the Baytree, Guest House were amazing, polite and friendly, and couldn’t do enough for us. Our weekend stay was lovely, the rooms spotless, and there wasn’t anything we could fault. We’d book with them again wherever they go, and hope they have another guest house. Wishing them all the best and good luck for the future. Paula & Sam (Simon) xxx

The breakfast has a great range of home-cooked dishes, ordered the day before so they can be freshly made. There’s also fresh fruit, cereal and toast with butter and preserves. We were warmly welcomed, and nothing felt like too much trouble. The rooms are nicely furnished with lovely comfortable beds. In the room there was a fantastic range of complimentary tea, coffee, snacks, biscuits and water. I’ve never stayed anywhere with such an amazing selection of toiletries, with everything you could possibly need.

I’ve been to Bay Tree House three times now, and I’ll be back. The lakes are only a two-minute walk to the right, Lord Street is five minutes to the left, and the station is about a ten-minute walk away, among the high street shops. Lord Street has plenty of cafés, coffee shops and restaurants, many with pavement seating, plus a Wetherspoons at the far end. My niece visited for the day and was surprised there was so much beyond the beach and fun fair, which were all she’d seen on earlier trips with her children. The pier was closed for repairs, apparently for some time, but Southport is still a lovely traditional seaside resort, with fish and chips at The Old Swan chippy restaurant and all sorts of cuisine along Lord Street in the evening. Cleo greeted us again. She’s caring and lovely, and does everything she can for you. The house feels more like a cosy, family-run hotel than a usual B&B, and the rooms are spotless and nicely decorated. The hospitality tray has more than you’d expect, including complimentary chocolate, bottled water and milk in the fridge. There are also small bottles of red, white and rosé wine, and cans of gin and tonic, payable through an honesty box. For breakfast, we stuck with the freshly cooked full English, made by Cleo’s lovely husband Leigh. There’s a menu with other choices too, including pancakes and smoked salmon, and eggs cooked how you like them. It’s best to tell Cleo or Leigh the day before, so check the information book in your room. To start, there are cereals, orange juice, fruit such as mixed berries, strawberries, melon and fresh pineapple, and creamy yoghurt, which I add to the fruit.

A small, lovely B&B with welcoming owners, a good freshly cooked breakfast, and a handy spot for bars and restaurants. I’ll be back.

The room and shower were just right, and the breakfast was lovely, with whatever you want. Cleo and leigh are great hosts who go out of their way for you. I’d definitely recommend it and hope to return. P.S. Cleo’s granddaughter came first in the pony/horse show.
