Doune Guest House

The location made it easy to get around St. Andrews, and we’d love to come back. My husband and I had a top-floor room with a king bed that was so comfortable we both slept really well. We met the host at checkout, and he was kind and professional.

Ilya was extraordinarily helpful and politely answered all my questions. The full English breakfast was five star. The room has a nice mix of modern touches and that B&B guest house feel, and there’s a car park right beside the guest house. Be prepared for the seagulls to leave one or several splats on your car. It’s a fantastic location for a stay in St Andrews.

Room 6 at the top of Doune's house was a pleasant surprise for the price, and the location is excellent for getting to Market-Street and around St. Andrews. I stayed two nights and found the staff very friendly and helpful. When I mentioned that a kettle had stopped working, they replaced it. There’s also a stand with umbrellas ready to borrow, which was a nice touch. The courtesy bag had crisps, a muffin and a nature valley bar, plus orange juice and water. I knew the shower and toilet for room 6 weren’t ensuite, and that was fine. I skipped the breakfast option and ate elsewhere. I used public transport, so can’t comment on parking. I’d go back without hesitation.

I really liked the place’s motif and decorations, and the breakfast delivered to the room was a lovely touch. They took covid precautions very seriously and made sure guests felt safe and comfortable. A lovely place to stay in Saint Andrews, highly recommended.
