Ye Olde Hotel

Our room was spacious and renovated, but it was right above the bar, which stayed open until 1 am. The music was so loud we had to wear headphones, and drunk girls were screaming in the parking lot. There's no tea or coffee in the room, only a shared kitchen with a squeaky door. This feels like a very loud pub pretending to be a hotel. I wouldn't recommend it, especially if you need to get up early the next day.

The location worked well, right by the bus stop, so it was easy to leave the city. The people I met were pretty chill, though I didn't meet many. From outside, the hotel really wasn't pretty and needs a lot of improvement. Inside was better, but the bar right beside the room was very noisy whenever someone opened the door. The room was just okay, with two beds and a toilet, but not even a chair or anything else.

The staff were lovely, and the bedding looked clean. The little pub downstairs was genuinely cute and friendly. But there was no bathroom in our room, and the carpets smelled like an old folks' home to me, which really put me off. We only used the room to get ready, then I drove home after the wedding. I booked because the hotel was cheap and well placed for lots of local venues. I feel terrible writing anything negative, and I hadn't planned to review, but it needs a bit of an upgrade. Fresh carpets and a more modern feel inside would help, even if the prices went up. I would have stayed the night if it felt fresher.

There was no tea or coffee in our room, and I didn't know we'd be sharing the toilet. There was only one hand towel in the bathroom for all four rooms, so we should each have had our own. The steps coming out of the bathroom are very narrow, and part of the wall beneath the window is coming apart.
