The welcome was warm, the staff were wonderful, and I had a great chat with some locals. It’s the best inn or pub I’ve visited this year. Fantastic, I’ll definitely be back!

At nearly 80, I’ve finally made it into the pub for the first time, after being born in Bugle, living at 13 Fore Street for 23 years, and being christened and married in the chapel. I thoroughly recommend the Sunday roast. My small pork roast was plenty for me, and came with lovely crackling and my friend’s parsnips. As a coeliac, I was glad to have my own gravy boat and a gluten-free meal, which you don’t find everywhere. It included roast potatoes, carrots, broccoli, peas, mash, apple sauce and cauliflower cheese.

The location is brilliant, very close to the Eden Project, and breakfast was tasty, quick and served by friendly staff. The room was spotless, tidy and really nice, and there’s free parking on site. Music on Saturday night was expected, but on Sunday it went on until 11pm. I was exhausted on Monday, and that late Sunday music is the only reason I wouldn’t stay again.

We didn’t stay at the hotel, just came to the Bugle Inn for a roast. There was loads of lovely food, and the staff were really friendly and funny. I’d absolutely recommend it!
