Abbey Court Hotel

The staff and management were terrific, and breakfast was included, with a nice selection cooked to order. There’s also a small bar on site. The hotel is close to bus stops, though a bit away from the city centre. It’s a comfortable, basic place. You can use the free washing machine and soap, but it runs slowly. The bed pillows could use replacing. There are three levels and no lift. Airport and ferry terminal transfers are available at no charge, but need to be arranged ahead of time.

The bed was the most comfortable I’ve ever slept in, and I woke up refreshed after a full night’s sleep. The room had everything we needed, was spotless, and had plenty of tea, coffee and milk. Breakfast was cooked to order, with lots to choose from, including cereal, fruit and yoghurt. Since we’d never been to Guernsey, the free airport pickup and drop-off from the Abbey Court Hotel made things much easier. The proprietor took us along the harbour so we could see the Castle and the bus terminal, where we caught a bus the next day for just £1 and went around the island. He also gave us a map and bus timetable. A must-stay.

We had a comfortable four days here. Our room at the back was spacious, with an ensuite and a lovely powerful shower. We got fresh towels each day, and the hotel was always clean and tidy. The staff were friendly and easy to approach, and nothing seemed too much trouble. There was a choice at breakfast, though I had the full English each day, which was delicious.

The owners were gracious and helpful throughout our stay. After we checked out, they even let us leave our bags there all day while we toured the island. Excellent accommodation, highly recommended.
