The Guinness is the reason I keep wandering over to The Longfrie Inn, which is just down the road from home. What a pint. They pour it at exactly the right pace, and watching it settle is a little creamy miracle. You’d think they’d learned the craft from ancient Irish scrolls. It’s so precise I could set my watch by it. The bar staff and managers are legends, friendly and welcoming, and somehow attentive enough to know when I need another before I do. Guinness elsewhere has spoiled me for other pubs, so I’m doomed to keep returning to The Longfrie Inn like a moth to its smooth, creamy flame. I highly recommend it if you appreciate a properly respected pint. Just be warned, you may never see another pub the same way. Cheers!

The food was delicious, and the portions were generous. I especially liked the goat’s cheese salad, and the raspberries worked really well with it. There are lighter portions of some main dishes too, which is handy if you don’t want a big meal. The menu has plenty for different tastes, and the service was extremely friendly. It’s got a cosy, traditional country pub feel, with lovely decor and a proper roaring fire. If you’re over 60, there’s also 20% off food at lunchtime Tuesday to Friday. I’m not quite there yet, and you do have to ask for it so they don’t risk offending anyone by assuming. Great value, and I’d happily recommend it.

The food and service were both excellent when I ate here a few nights ago, so I’ve no complaints on that front. My one gripe is that the menu hasn’t changed for a very, very long time. The daily specials are always tasty, but I’d like to see the chef refresh the regular choices. Hopefully someone takes note.

I’m here most Sundays for the roast dinners, and this is my go-to place. The food and service are such a high standard, the best on the island. Looking forward to coming back in February 2026 for the year. Much love to everyone, Andy B.
