The grounds were what I loved most about Powis House Estate. I wandered them in the morning, listening to the stream and birdsong, and watching the neighboring farms where cattle, sheep and goats grazed. The gardens were full of flowers, with wildlife all around. Inside, the spacious, cosy rooms and historic architecture and décor had so much character, almost like stepping back in time. We were a group of five visiting in May, and our hosts, a wonderful family, welcomed us warmly and shared brilliant local recommendations. Stirling Castle and the Wallace Monument are a short distance away, with other iconic places accessible on a day trip. Powis House Estate made for a peaceful, beautiful, authentic Scottish experience that I'll always treasure. A genuine gem, and highly, highly recommended!

I've run a number of retreats across Scotland, and Powis House is easily the best venue I've worked with. Guests kept telling me how special and unique it felt, and the feedback was overwhelmingly positive. Many called it magical and said it made their retreat experience better. James and Jennifer were warm, attentive and accommodating from booking through the retreat itself. Nothing was too much trouble, and they helped everything run smoothly. They prepared personalised gift bags, had the fire ready each morning, and set up the outdoor fire for our evening gathering. The historic house has plenty of character while still providing what a comfortable, memorable retreat needs. The house, facilities and grounds were all well maintained. There was lots of peaceful space to explore, reflect and connect with nature. Guests particularly enjoyed gathering around the outdoor fire, using the swimming lake and hot tubs, and relaxing in the summerhouse overlooking the hills. Even with such a quiet, breathtaking setting, Stirling city centre is only 10 minutes away. I'd highly recommend Powis House for a retreat or special gathering, and very much look forward to returning.

The best part was being able to enjoy the grounds without going anywhere: Jennifer invited us to wander through the meadow, past the stream and pond, and around the orchard and stables. We also paid a small extra charge for the hot tub behind the cottage, and sitting in the bubbling water on cold November nights was lovely. My friend and I stayed in Powis East in November 2025. It was beautifully decorated, comfortable and well equipped. There are two double rooms, one ensuite, plus a twin room and two more bathrooms, upstairs and downstairs. The bedrooms were a good size, and the double beds were comfortable. There’s a log fire and a wood store attached. We were short on kindling the first night, but after we messaged the hosts, a huge bag was there the next day, enough for two cosy evenings by the fire. They also sorted out our internet connection straight away by resetting it in the main house. One thing to keep in mind: the steps up to the front door are steep, so luggage can be awkward. I’d happily stay at Powis East again.

We especially enjoyed wandering around the estate. The meadows and views were so peaceful, and we briefly met the owners, who were warm and welcoming. My friends and I stayed in the East Wing of Powis House in Stirling during our May 2024 trip through England and Scotland. The wing had plenty of space and character, with each room keeping its own historic feel. We also found the large, well-equipped kitchen really convenient for relaxed meals after a day out. It made our visit memorable, and I’d recommend it to anyone coming to Stirling.

James met us on arrival and was very accommodating when our arrival time changed. He also suggested some lovely local walks. We were four adults and two children staying at Mid Cottage in March while visiting family. The setup worked perfectly for us. It’s a gorgeous, spacious cottage, very well equipped, with lovely grounds and amazing hill views. We had a great break and would book again when we’re in Stirling.
