The room was clean and tidy, though rather warm. The air conditioning worked and wasn’t too noisy, and it had the usual facilities like a kettle, hairdryer and iron. They were a bit stingy with the tea bags. Check-in and check-out were easy, especially as I’d booked ahead. The road closure near the hotel made getting there harder, as the diversion signs were poor. I was also disappointed to have to pay for parking for each night. There’s a basic bar, but the prices feel more like hotel prices than local ones. The same drink at a pub a few minutes away was well over a pound cheaper. Breakfast was the usual fare, apart from the DIY waffles, which were more than acceptable. It felt like just enough had been done. Nothing to complain about, and nothing to praise either. Maybe that’s how things are now. There was a rowing regatta happening metres from the hotel and they didn’t even know about it. Says it all.

The only downside was a fairly slow check-in. Beyond that, everything was faultless. The hotel is very central in a busy area, parking is convenient, and breakfast was very nice and included. The rooms were clean and up to date, and the staff were friendly. I’d absolutely recommend staying here.

We were visiting family over the May Bank Holiday weekend, and the location worked perfectly. The staff were friendly throughout and took time to interact with our 10-month-old, which made us feel very welcome. They also had a cot set up before we arrived, much appreciated. The room was comfortable. The only small snag was that the reading lights didn’t work properly and made a slight buzzing noise, so they may need looking at for future guests. It didn’t spoil the stay for us. We visit family in the area around four times a year and will stay here each time.

The front desk ladies handled a big check-in delay really well. The room was clean and nicely presented, with a good river view, and the parking was quite good. Breakfast was really impressive, especially considering how busy it was. The hotel is very central if you’re visiting any of the venues in Stockton.

The staff were lovely and helpful, and everything was extremely clean. Dinner options in the evening felt a bit basic, so ordering from the snack menu to the room might be a better bet. I’d come back, though. The only real snag was finding the exact spot with the sat nav, and What3Words didn’t seem to help either. Still, a great stay, with those points just suggestions for improvement.
