We came back for a second visit to eat after having drinks at the bar, where a very pleasant woman served us. The food was amazing, all four of us really enjoyed it, and the service was brilliant too. It's dog friendly, which is great since there aren't many places in Stornoway that allow dogs.

The room itself was decent, and dinner at the restaurant was very nice, if a little chaotic. The continental breakfast was very good, and the staff were friendly. The central location was handy, though our ground-floor room picked up quite a bit of noise from the pub across the road and from inside the hotel. There was music coming from somewhere at 5.30am, so the stay was a mixed bag.

We came for a meal. The dishes that were made correctly were great, but mine wasn't. Although the menu note was pointed out, a vegetarian was served a non-vegetarian option. They fixed that quickly. Some of the staff were fantastic, while others were abrupt, rude and dismissive. They struggled to listen to requests and even mocked us to their colleagues as a joke. We told the manager, who apologised and assured us it would be dealt with.

We ate here for both lunch and dinner on separate days, though we weren't staying at the hotel. The food was tasty and well priced, with plenty of choice, including a good range of gluten-free and vegetarian dishes. They were very accommodating with our dog, bringing water and a few dog biscuits. There was a good selection of alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks too. It's well located near the harbour, and we'd definitely go again.
