Old Stocks Inn

The location is superb, and the room seemed about right for the price. We only stayed one night. At the hotel restaurant, I asked a waitress if I could finish the chips I'd picked up while ordering a bottle of wine, but they wouldn't allow it. I felt I was just asking to use the hotel's common area, buy a bottle of wine, and finish my chips. I understand and respect the rule about not bringing food from elsewhere into another place, but I was also staying at this hotel. I went to the bar next door instead, where they were welcoming and happy to serve me a bottle of wine. I finished my chips there and enjoyed the wine. If I were the manager, I would have allowed it in this situation. They could have sold a bottle of wine and made a good impression on a hotel guest.

We slept incredibly well: the bed and pillows were so comfortable. The room had lovely touches, including plush towels, robes and slippers, a Nespresso machine, a good selection of tea, and assorted treats. There was also a small fridge, handy for chilling a few drinks or a bottle of wine. The rooms are exceptionally well appointed, and the staff were warm and welcoming throughout. Highly recommend this inn.

The service was so kind and friendly, and the whole place had a relaxed vibe. The six of us, including two babies, were warmly welcomed into a cosy little conservatory area and had a really excellent meal. The cooking was very good, with real flair and style, and the cocktails were great too. We loved the whole evening and will be back on our next trip. Thank you Old Stocks!!

The small plates were sublime, and sharing them tapas-style made for a lovely lunch with friends. The lunch menu isn't cheap, but the quality more than made the price worthwhile.
