We stayed overnight in Stranraer, and with so many places to eat closed on Tuesday, we tried the Craignelder. It was extremely busy because of a private function, but they said they could fit us in as soon as a table opened up. Even with all the bustle, we were greeted and served with big smiles, and nothing seemed too much trouble. The food was lovely and very reasonably priced.

A comfortable, very clean room with an excellent shower, and the breakfast conservatory has a beautiful morning view of Lough Ryan. The place has loads of character, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Self check-in was easy even though we arrived late, and they were flexible with checkout when we asked. I'd definitely stay again.

I've never stayed in a hotel with a bed I was so reluctant to leave in the morning. The beds were incredibly soft and cosy, and I even took a photo of the mattress topper and pillow brands. The room was spacious and nicely put together, and the cleaning standard was incredibly high. Breakfast was simple, but everything tasted lovely. The hotel itself is beautiful, the staff were so lovely, and check-in was easy. The view from the front adds to the relaxing feel. I'd definitely book again.

We were only passing through and took a chance that the Craigelder Hotel would serve us breakfast. They treated us just like the resident guests. The silver service full Scottish breakfast was beautifully presented and absolutely delicious, with cereals and orange and apple juice beforehand. Amazing quality and an inexpensive treat at £10 PP all in!

The restaurant had a varied menu, and the dishes we ordered were tasty, nicely presented and as described. Our room was clean, spacious and nicely fitted out, with a great view.
