The room was spotless and had everything I needed, and being beside the river made for a really quiet, peaceful stay. I slept well throughout. The team were warm, welcoming and helpful, especially Owen and Rosa, who were always around when needed. I loved the food. The sea bass with citrus grains on the first night had crisp skin and tender, succulent fish. The next night, both the falafel starter and smothered chicken were great, with the chicken just as tender. The apple and raspberry sundae was delicious too. Breakfast had plenty to choose from and was cooked beautifully. Thanks to chefs Cameron, Riley and Harry, and well done.

The breakfast was only okay. The scrambled eggs were lukewarm, and the continental choices seemed quite limited, with croissants, toast, fruit and cereal. That’s why I’ve given four stars rather than five. This was our first time at a Premier Inn, and we chose a Premier Plus room. The bed was very comfortable, the temperature was easy to adjust and just right, and the WiFi was fantastic. It’s well placed for town, with parking available for £7 for 24 hours.

Ewa deserves a mention for handling a busy Saturday breakfast service so calmly, and for being helpful and polite. We had a clean, well equipped Premier Plus room overlooking the canal and some local businesses. The walk-in shower was great, and unusual for a Premier Inn. You can park right by the hotel for a fee, and town is just a short walk away. A really good budget stay, one of the best Premier Inns.

The accessible room had two single beds pushed together, and the mattresses were so bad that sleeping on them felt like being in a canoe. My back hurt, but the hotel was fully booked, so there was nowhere else to move. Guest relations have refused to honour the Good Night Guarantee and are still holding on to my £150 a night.

Rosa at reception was especially kind when I mentioned I was in the middle of moving house. She sat me down and made me a very much needed coffee. The refurbished family room was great and extremely comfortable. The hotel is about five minutes from town, with lots of amenities nearby. I’d really recommend staying here.
