The Kings Head House

The pork tenderloin dinner was a real highlight, with lots of different flavours and lovely presentation. We all enjoyed it. We were staying ahead of a wedding and ceremony nearby, and Room 1 was very clean with a super king-size bed. The staff were helpful and friendly. I’d definitely recommend it 👌

Our friend stayed overnight for bed and breakfast after coming down to join my brother and me for our birthday celebration. On the 22nd of November, he messaged from home to say it was one of the best hotel breakfasts he’d had. That’s high praise from someone who’s stayed in hotels around the world over a distinguished thirty-year career. The three of us had different meals, and nobody was disappointed. Everything was excellent and served hot, with quick service and a very welcoming team. We’d come in for drinks first, though the selection was limited, and a wider range would be my one reservation. We were celebrating a day early so we could all be together with our lifelong friend. I’d highly recommend the King's Head.

The staff were friendly, the bed was comfortable and the price was good. We enjoyed the evening meals, and the breakfast was good, though the choice was a little limited. A few small room issues kept this from being a five-star stay. The rooms felt a bit tired. Ours hadn’t been fully dusted when we arrived, and on the second day the cleaned water glasses were left upside down and still wet, on a tray where they collected condensation. The bathroom’s chipboard along the bath’s lower edge had swollen and was exposed, apparently from shower water, and the cistern cover wasn’t fully screwed in. In the bedroom, the wardrobe door was coming apart at a bottom corner and the bedside table drawers were broken. An odd-job person could fix these things in a few hours.

The breakfast was fantastic, especially the meat, which was amazing quality and cooked just right. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout. Our room was spotless and came with a hairdryer, kettle, tea, coffee, hot chocolate, bottled water, glasses, toiletries and towels. The place was easy to find, had lots of parking, and was very well priced since we booked direct.
