The service was good, and when I said the room was freezing, she brought me a hot water bottle and turned the heat up. But I couldn’t get hold of her by phone, which was difficult from a Canadian number.

While we were moving house and waiting for our furniture to arrive, my wife and I stayed at the Laurels and really enjoyed it. Leslie and Emily made us feel like family. The room was comfortable and well kept, the location suited us perfectly, and the Internet was quite fast. Their dogs are lovely, friendly and well behaved. My wife hasn’t had experience with dogs, and Leslie and Emily were very considerate, keeping them under close control during our visit. We highly recommend staying here!

The area around this old house is beautiful, and the room price is low. Emilie and her mother are lovely owners who are helpful and make the place feel like a family home. It has that old-house “soul.” If you’re not looking for luxury, it’s a great place to stay. I’ll definitely return.

There are lovely walks and bike rides right nearby, and it’s a great location. The house has real character and charm, and Emily and her Mum welcome you with such warmth that guests feel like friends and part of the family. If you like dogs, the two wolf dogs are a treat. One especially handsome boy is very keen on pats. I sincerely hope I get to come back.

This was my fifth visit to The Laurels, and I can’t wait for the next one. I love parking up and being greeted by Richard, Lesley, Emilie and Seamus, as well as Izzy and the cats, Ronnie and Reggie. The cooked breakfast is awesome, and I doubt anywhere else could rival it. The old house is quirky, charming and clean, and it’s become a home from home for me, somewhere to retreat when life outside gets too busy. The welcome feels like seeing old friends again. Chain hotels once seemed a safe bet because I knew what to expect, but The Laurels is nothing like that faceless experience, and I’ve always found it clean and welcoming.
