There’s plenty of parking, and we were warmly welcomed when we arrived for an early lunch on a cold Saturday in December. The ham, egg and chips and the scampi with chips and salad were both delicious. They also made a small portion for our 3-year-old, and the coffee was delicious too. We’ll be back in warmer weather to sit outside.

The owners were lovely and welcoming, and nothing seemed like too much trouble. You could just have a coffee or order a three-course meal, and there was no pressure to order more than a drink if that’s all you wanted. They were happy to cater for special dietary needs too, so it feels like they can look after everyone.

The pies were just what we wanted after a good walk, and the pint was nice too. We ordered before setting off, and the food was ready when we got back two hours later. Louise and her team were happy to help with everything, even though we arrived drenched. It’s a beautiful spot and very handy for a walk around the Arlingham horseshoe.

We had a lovely family day out boating from Saul marina along the canal to Purton hulks towards Sharpness. The ten of us were glad of the ice creams at The Old Passage, and the chips they kindly made for us were welcome as we sat outside on a glorious early evening. We’d also had a wonderful three-night stay here. The room was comfortable with a stunning view, and the food was excellent throughout. Louise made us feel very welcome. She works such long hours and is always cheerful and helpful. We didn’t expect to see the Severn Bore, but even the one-star bore we saw from the hotel was interesting. We’re used to seeing the five-star ones further upstream.

Lovely staff, excellent food and a picturesque part of the country. There’s a great choice of ciders and beers too. Top marks, keep it up. We’ll hopefully be back soon, thanks!
