Studley Castle Hotel

The building and grounds were a lovely surprise, and I enjoyed walking around them and into Studley before I left. Bring walking boots or wellies, though, as I hadn't packed suitable shoes and felt a bit silly. I was there for two nights while working nearby, so I missed the daytime entertainment and spa, which gives me a reason to return with more free time. I hadn't realised Studley Castle was a resort, with entertainment and spa facilities beyond the usual hotel amenities. The staff were very friendly and attentive. The other guests seemed mostly over 60, and it was great seeing couples and groups enjoying themselves. I tried the restaurant one evening and the buffet the next. The food was excellent, and breakfast had an exceptional amount of choice. 10/10, thank you, Studley Castle!

The quizzes, walks and entertainment were all fun, and the food was fabulous. Keegan deserves a mention for running the cocktail-making classes, he was friendly and knew his stuff. One waitress was often chatting with other guests instead of clearing up or taking orders, which caused a bit of a problem. We had some trouble with the room heating at first. After several complaints, oil heaters were brought in, and once maintenance explained what was going on, we were okay. Even with that issue, we had a fantastic time, and the staff made the stay a wonderful experience. We'll return.

The massage treatment staff were amazing and really knew their craft. The food was nice and the room itself was lovely, but the bed and pillows let me down. The mattress was hard, and the pillow choices were a super-high, firm one or an old, lumpy one. I expected better pillows given the rest of the hotel's standards, and they affected my sleep.

Finley, our waitress, was friendly and attentive, and nothing seemed too much trouble. We had a lovely birthday break at Studley Castle, and Disco Inferno were an amazing guest act. Best night!
