Sophie, our wedding coordinator, made everything feel easy. She handled our many requests, from scones instead of a cake to flip flops, lights, towels, non alcoholic toasts and food, and set up the decorations so beautifully I cried. She seemed genuinely excited for us. Oxwich were also on top of things in the lead-up, with meetings whenever we had questions and quick replies to emails. We had our wedding reception at Oxwich last summer, and the day was incredible. The marquee view was amazing, the staff were great and the food was fab. Although the price might look higher than at other places, lots is included that you'd pay extra for elsewhere: the DJ, table decorations, napkins and seat bows, memory ladder, postbox, cake stand, wedding taster, honeymoon suite and evening buffet for day guests. It was really good value and took away a lot of stress. You could ask for pink bows and they'd be ready on the day. The breakfast the next morning was great, and the honeymoon suite's jacuzzi bath was amazing. Being just a few steps from the sand was perfect. There's a choice of lovely grassy areas and beach for photos, and we even ended up in the sea at the end of the party. If you want a beach themed wedding in south wales with an incredible backdrop, this is the place.
The whole visit ran so smoothly, from our meal to seeing Santa. After we finished the main course, Mrs Claus came to take us to Santa, and the room was decorated beautifully with loads of attention to detail. Santa was fantastic, as always, and our little girl loves seeing him. By the time we got back, our table had been cleared, and dessert arrived soon after. The staff were attentive and the timing was spot on. We came to Oxwixh Bay today so our daughter could see Santa, and had a truly fantastic time. The decorations took my breath away. Dinner came promptly after we arrived and got our drinks. It was served on a platter, which I hadn't expected. We'd ordered extra Yorkshire puddings and roasties, but everything was cooked perfectly, especially the beef, honestly the best I've ever had. There was more than enough for the three of us, with plenty of gravy, so we didn't need the extra sides. Dessert was delicious too. Well worth every penny. Thanks to all the staff, Santa and Mrs Claus.
A lovely winter treat. Fires were burning all over the hotel and the place felt really welcoming. We had a wonderful stay with bed, breakfast and dinner, and the staff stood out for how helpful they were. Nothing seemed like too much trouble. I saw a recent review saying they don't do campervan stopovers anymore. That's not true. I asked about it for us in future, and they were happy to explain. You just need to call ahead and pre-book dinner or breakfast to stay overnight in their carpark.
Dinner last night was excellent. We had a lovely view over the bay and sunset while I enjoyed the king prawn tagliatelle. Portions were generous, with a side salad and delicious homemade slaw, and the vanilla and raspberry cheesecake was divine. Compliments to the chef, and well done to the kitchen and front of house. Sam and Ellis gave impeccable service.
The staff were attentive and quick to respond, so thank you for that. But this stay in the caravan was a poor experience. Baby changing facilities had been left set up, with faeces on the mattress, even though we don't have a baby and hadn't requested them. The caravan was generally unclean, the floor made our feet stick and there was a peculiar smell. The neighbour in the caravan opposite was very rude and demanded our parking space. That's not Oxwich Bay Hotel's fault, but we reported him to the staff. We'd stayed at Oxwich Bay before and had a good experience. This one was very different and unexpected given the spectacular location.
