The Estuary Bar and Rooms

The food was good, which was the one saving grace. I tried to ignore the dirt while eating, but the seats and booth walls were covered in food and stains, the toilets were dirty, and we were handed four filthy glasses. The waitress seemed put out that we were there. We’d checked the website and signs outside, both saying 9am opening. At 9.20 the doors were locked, chairs stacked, and lights off. We asked at GG’s and were told they opened at 10. When we pointed out the signs, the woman said we could sit down. I checked that food was available then, and she said yes.

We took a chance and stopped by hoping to find a table for a 40th birthday breakfast, and luckily there was room. The Estuary stack was wonderful, the server was friendly, and the iced matcha was so good I got one to take home. 🤣

The tapas was beautifully presented and full of flavour, easily the best we’ve had outside Spain. We often come to the Gower area to see family, and this is our favourite hotel here by far. It’s clean and modern, with really comfortable beds and lovely Estuary views from the balcony. Emma, the general manager, was friendly and so helpful, and made us feel at home. The continental breakfast set us up for the day, including sourdough toast and coffee that aren’t pictured. Next time we’ll try the cooked breakfast, which looked delicious.

We visit the Estuary Bar fairly often with friends, but once again the staff were cleaning up and cashing up by 8.30, ready for the 9pm close. It doesn’t feel welcoming.
