The grounds were beautiful to walk around, and all the staff I met were helpful and accommodating. My small room was clean and tidy, close to work, with plenty of free parking for guests. I wasn’t hungry for breakfast, but the woman there happily gave me a takeaway box for some pastries and fruit. The hot night was miserable, though. There was no air conditioning, and I’d be surprised if I got three hours of sleep. A fan was already on when I arrived, but it only moved the warm air around. I’d suggest keeping the windows and curtains closed during the hottest part of the day. Dinner was disappointing too. The slow braised chilli and lime beef hanger steak came with rice noodles and vegetables, but the meat was bland and dry. The sauce was nice, just nowhere near enough of it, and the vegetables had seasoning more suited to a roast. Those were probably the best part of the dish, but didn’t go well with it. I would come back, just not in hot weather, which is a shame because the setting and grounds are part of the appeal.

The rooms are basic but spotless, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The food was good too, and reasonably priced. If you’re after a simple, clean, no-frills hotel, this fits. It’s set in the gorgeous grounds of Lydiard park, which adds charm, and staying here was a lovely experience. Thanks for a lovely stay.

We chose the hotel for our Golden Wedding anniversary party, and it worked so well for everyone to get to. The staff were helpful and accommodating, the service was excellent, and the food was outstanding. A big thank you to the whole team. We couldn't rate the hotel highly enough.

After delivering food for more than six years, this was by far my worst experience. I came to the hotel to deliver a customer's order and asked the manager, who was wearing a white shirt and grey trousers, to help me find the customer. I wasn't comfortable going upstairs alone as a woman. He told me he wasn't a delivery man, then pointed me toward the stairs. I went up, couldn't find anyone in the room, and came back down to tell him there was no answer. He said nobody was in the room. When I asked if he could help me locate the customer since I had their details, he said he wasn't allowed to. I asked if I could leave the food at reception, but he said that wasn't their responsibility. Other hotels in Swindon have taken the food and contacted the customer so the order gets to them without sharing personal details. His attitude was rude and completely out of line for someone managing a hotel. When I suggested he could help by finding the customer if I left the food, he told me I wouldn't be allowed back in. Utter disgrace. I never want to deliver here again.

I was hesitant to book after reading some poor reviews, but they turned out to be completely unwarranted. The hotel sits in a stunning spot beside the old stately home, and I enjoyed a morning walk around the grounds, lake, and park. It's a new build, with clean, modern rooms, a comfortable bed, and a quiet night's sleep. I'd definitely stay again.
