Swandown Hotel

I've stayed here countless nights and have always had a great time. The staff and owner are great people, and I know them personally. It's not a five-star hotel, but for the price it's a really good option, with nice rooms if you're on a budget and want a pleasant stay around the city. The location is perfect: stand at the door and Swindon centre is to the left, old town to the right, both walkable. It's a fun place, and I highly recommend it. Ignore the negative comments, book and enjoy yourself. If you say Raja recommended it, they'll take extra care of you, you're welcome.

The location was pretty good, but the place deserved less than a star, and I couldn't get a refund for the nights I left. We had booked three nights and stayed only one because the conditions were so bad. The rooms, toilet, shower and hall were dirty, with rubbish left in the bin from the previous booking and hair everywhere, even on the supposedly clean new bed sheets. A window was missing from one door, and all the door handles were broken. I've stayed in hostels better than this. The owner was very rude when we asked for a refund. We didn't expect much for what we paid, but at least some decency and respect.

The pictures online make it look nice, but don't be fooled. The place was filthy and dusty, smelled like a junk heap, and the customer service was poor. I had to wait for the rooms, sheets and pillowcases to be cleaned, and even afterwards there was still a horrible odor. The bathrooms were repulsive, and the beds were dirty and disgusting. I woke up aching all over because the old, worn mattresses were so uncomfortable. A complete waste of money. Don't bother staying here.

The room was disgustingly dirty during our one-night stay with friends. The toilet hadn't been flushed, cigarette ends were scattered on the bedroom floor, and there were half-empty shampoo and body wash bottles around the toilet. There was human hair on both the floor and carpet, and the list goes on. COVID precautions were nonexistent. There were permanent guests, the walls were extremely thin, and plastic bags covered the smoke detectors. The worst hotel experience ever.
