Canterra Cottage

Cameron and Maureen made us feel comfortable and welcome throughout our one-night stay. I’d emailed ahead about my dietary needs, and they went the extra mile by making me a gluten-free cooked breakfast, which I really appreciated. The room was clean, the bed comfortable, and there were tea and coffee facilities, biscuits and bottled water. For dinner, Cameron suggested the Italian Touch at Portmohamack, two miles away, and offered to call and book us a table. We had a window seat with amazing views, and it was a lovely restaurant with GF dishes. Breakfast was superb, and the first-floor breakfast room has wonderful views. A beautiful cottage and great hosts. I’d highly recommend staying here.

This is such a peaceful spot in the Scottish highlands, and we’ve fallen for it, both for the place and for the people. There are three cottages: a spacious loft room, a ground-floor room like an apartment, and an outdoor wooden cottage. The owners have been kind and hospitable from day one. On our first visit we arrived without a car, and when no local taxis would come, they picked us up. They’d also left bacon, coffee, bread, butter and other bits for us. We’re back for a second visit now, and I’m sitting at the end of their driveway looking over the field across the road. It’s so peaceful, unlike anywhere else I’ve experienced on my travels around the UK. I think of the owners as friends now, and have told them to let us know if they need anything when we’re out, and we’ll pick it up. Absolutely worth it, even for a couple of nights. I can’t recommend this lovely place enough. Just make sure you can drive 🤣🤣 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The accommodation was a real bonus. The host was friendly, the rooms were clean and comfortable, and it’s an excellent place to stay. The location was prime too.
