Really clean and tidy campsite, and the toilet and shower block was kept clean too. The showers were lovely and hot. Ginnie, the site warden, was kind and quick to help when our electric hook up failed, getting us a replacement in no time. We had a fantastic week camping and will go back!

The area is beautiful, and the staff were all friendly and helpful, which made our long weekend camping here really enjoyable. Getting around takes a bit of planning: there’s a nearby train station and a bus, but the train is about once an hour and Sunday buses only come every three hours. Two mornings in a row there was no toilet paper. The showers were warm and clean, though awkward to use. There are no shelves, the floor gets soaked, and there’s nowhere dry to put your clothes. You have to keep pressing the button for water, about every three seconds. There’s just one washing-up area for the whole site, and it’s outdoors, so washing up in the rain wouldn’t be much fun. Still, we enjoyed the stay, and the location and atmosphere helped make it memorable.

£75 a night felt like a total rip-off. We left and went inland to a caravan park for a third of the price, where the showers ran freely, had big shower heads, and were immaculate. Here the facilities didn’t match the cost. The showers ran briefly and needed the button pressed every two seconds, which was ridiculous. They were also very mouldy, and the light shade was full of dead insects. Some campsites seem to charge heavily for their location while cutting corners on basic things that matter to travellers. Honestly, they should be ashamed.

We had an electric pitch, and the location was really good. The site felt secure and wasn’t too busy. The main problem was how dirty the toilets and showers were. They weren’t cleaned at all while we were there, and they were difficult to use, so we didn’t feel clean. The toilets only had the paper restocked, with no cleaning. We weren’t expecting luxury, just clean facilities.
