The heating kept resetting itself to a very low setting and switching off, so we’d wake up to a cold room. Reception gave us a plug-in heater, thankfully, and that made us comfortable. The WiFi was down on the first day; support weren’t much help and couldn’t fix it, but it came back the next day. Slow WiFi is free, and fast WiFi costs £5 a day. Parking is free on-site. The hotel is central and convenient for lots of places: Tamworth Castle is next door, the retail park is across the road, and Snowdome is just around the corner. Drayton Manor is nearby, Birmingham is 20 minutes away, and Twycross zoo is close too. It makes a good base for visiting the Midlands, Staffordshire or nearby attractions, or for a clean, good-value stay. Kids stay and eat free, as with all Premier Inns. We had clean bedding, bathrooms and carpets, and the hotel has recently been refurbished. The upgraded bathrooms are a welcome change. We had a pleasant stay and would come back, especially with family. The breakfast experience at the Ladybridge Beefeater next door made the stay particularly nice. All the staff there were brilliant, especially Gail, who went the extra mile, along with Kelly, Joao and Tyler, and chefs Chris and Dave. At the hotel, Suzanna worked incredibly hard to make guests comfortable and was friendly, kind and accommodating. Jenny was a real star, helpful and friendly, and Dean was kind and helpful too. There were other lovely staff whose names I don’t know, and I’m sorry I can’t thank them by name. There was also an exceptionally kind and helpful guest, which was heartwarming. The thermostat issue was the only downside. Special credit to the manager and the team for a pleasant stay.

We were on the ground floor and had a comfortable bed, blackout curtains and extra-comfy pillows. Tea and coffee were available. The family rooms are good, and cots were there for our grandchildren’s families. The staff at both the hotel and Beefeater were friendly and helpful. Breakfast is worth buying, especially as children eat free with each paying adult. You need to book breakfast and evening meals. Snowdonia and the shopping centre are close, and there’s a good but very busy McDonald’s nearby.

That’s it for me with Premier Inn. I travel all over the country, and every stay here seems to be a joke. At £100 a night, I keep getting shoddy rooms, boiling heat or another awful shower. Paying customers deserve better than being treated with this kind of disrespect. The young woman at reception did try another room, but it was just as bad. I know she was trying to joke when she said, “at least it’s hot,” but that doesn’t solve it. Looks like I’ll be showering at work for the next 5 days. Room 124 and room 20 had the same problem. Get me home!

The staff were welcoming and friendly, and the hotel and room were clean and well kept. I was travelling for business, so I paid to upgrade to a better room with a suitable work space. I still wished there’d been a bigger desk or table to work at more comfortably.

I was here for three nights and had a really nice stay. My room was like other Premier Inn rooms: clean, comfortable and equipped well enough. It was generally quiet at night. The staff were great, and check-in and checkout were hassle-free. I’ll definitely stay again the next time work brings me to the area.
