Stonefield Castle Hotel

The rooms felt clean, comfortable, and welcoming, and there are cosy sitting rooms with fires and soft chairs. The hotel is also genuinely dog friendly, and the staff seem happy to have dogs around. Set in interesting grounds with mature trees and rhododendrons, it’s a lovely spot for birds. We enjoyed the attentive, professional staff, the drinks selection at the bar, and the view over the loch from the dining room. The food was delicious, though the menu was a little limited, and breakfast was excellent. The period building and grounds make it feel like a treat.

We loved the interior styling and the room, and the facilities were excellent. Every member of staff was friendly, helpful, and professional, from the warm welcome at the impressive entrance onwards. The Christmas decorations made the place feel especially lovely, though I’d happily return at another time of year too. It’s a beautiful setting, and even the roughly three-hour drive was worth it. The photos give you an idea of the place, but I’d recommend seeing it for yourself.

We spent ages looking out over the water and hills, with a different lovely view from every window. The mist lifting over Loch Fyne, the old castle and its gardens made mornings feel almost like a fairytale. The setting is magnificent, and the hotel offers the quiet, memorable Scottish escape we were hoping for. What made the stay especially lovely, though, was the staff. From reception to the dining room and housekeeping, everyone was warm, attentive, and helpful. Their professional service came with a real Scottish warmth that made us feel at home. We’d happily recommend Stonefield Castle and can’t wait to return.

The shared rooms, from the library and entrance to the stairs, lounge, and restaurant, are full of local art. Dinner was fabulous, and I’m looking forward to breakfast tomorrow. I picked an economy room and was pleasantly surprised by its lovely view over the Loch. I hope to tour the property and see some of the higher-end rooms tomorrow too.
