We stayed at Ocean View Hotel with family over Easter, from 3rd to 5th April 2026. The staff were courteous and accommodating. When we ordered Domino’s Pizza around 10:30 pm, they brought us cutlery and let us sit in the café after it had closed, which was much appreciated. The hotel also has a restaurant, pub and café with outdoor seating, and often has live music in the evenings. Its layout is charming but a bit confusing, so getting directions from reception at check-in may help. The location near Shanklin Beach was very convenient. My double room was spacious, with a TV, bathtub and study desk, though it didn’t have a sea view. We spent our evenings at the beach, so I didn’t feel I’d missed out. If you want a sea-facing room, ask for one when booking and at check-in. Breakfast was tasty, with a choice of Full English, including a vegetarian option, or Continental, and you can order both. The selection was somewhat limited, and breakfast is served from 8:30 am to 9:30 am, so plan your morning. They don’t provide a dental kit, so bring your own essentials. I’d recommend the hotel for an Isle of Wight trip.

I’ve just got home after five brilliant days on the IOW. The food was excellent, and being gluten free was no problem. The staff were really kind and made my stay so enjoyable. My room at the Ocean View Hotel in Shanklin was very nice, with a lovely walk-in shower, though it didn’t have a sea view. Thanks so much for a lovely holiday, and all the best for the coming season.

The hotel was nicely decorated and the staff were lovely. Our room was spacious and beautiful, though the bed was only okay for comfort. We were disappointed to find the pool unavailable without any advance notice, since it was one of the reasons we chose this hotel.

The rooms were average, and breakfast was badly delayed on both mornings of our two-night stay. The dishes were all dirty, not just one or two, and the staff couldn’t manage the number of guests. They tried their best to provide good service, but there was only so much they could do. Poor management. I wouldn’t recommend staying here.

The garden view was beautiful, and the restaurant staff were lovely. But I won’t be returning. This hotel really isn’t suitable for less able people. I came on an organised coach trip with my 89-year-old MIL, and getting around was difficult: our room was on the first floor, far along a walk from the lift with fifteen steps along the way, and there were another eight steps to the dining room. The room was cold and outdated, with shocking, hazardous bathroom flooring. The shower was over the bath and had very little power. Meals were often cold because about 150 people from the coach parties ate dinner and breakfast at the same time. The coffee was undrinkable, so I had to buy a jar as I don’t drink tea. The white-haired barman was very rude, and got ruder as the night went on.
