The Royal Ashton Town House

The location was perfect, close to the train station and town, with food places and pubs on the same street. Staff were very friendly, and there’s a nice little dining room where you can eat instead of staying in your room. The room wasn’t anything special, but it was very well kept.

There are a couple of pubs and places to eat nearby, and the cricket ground is very close. The communal kitchen has all the cooking gear, cutlery and pans, and our room, number 9, had a small fridge. We parked at the railway station, only a four-minute walk away. Definitely coming back.

The en suite was far too small, the TV signal was poor, and the kettle didn’t fit under the tap so we couldn’t fill it properly. There was no light for the mirror, which my wife wasn’t happy about. On the plus side, our room was clean, spacious and quiet, we slept very well, and the staff were excellent and helpful.

It’s an especially handy spot if you arrive by train, with lots of food and drink options nearby. Longrun Meadow and Frieze Hill Community Orchard are also close if you fancy a hearty morning walk. The staff were so friendly and helpful that our three-night stay was a pleasure. Our ground-floor twin room turned out to be a two-room apartment, which was a bonus. Everything was spotlessly clean and the beds were comfortable. I’d happily stay again.
