The young woman serving in the restaurant was kind, attentive, and professional, and the gentleman at the bar was pleasant and helpful. Their warmth, along with the excellent food, made up for some of the evening. One blonde, middle-aged staff member was very rude and dismissive, leaving us feeling unwelcome and making things awkward. We didn't stay at the hotel, but spent an evening at the bar and restaurant. It's a lovely, clean and cosy place with tasteful decor, and the food was flavourful, well prepared, and beautifully presented. With more consistent hospitality, it could easily be a five-star experience.

Tetbury was lovely to explore, with antique shops, local bakeries, gift shops, and plenty of restaurants. It wasn't overly touristy, and it was easy to reach other villages. We loved our stay at The Close Hotel in Tetbury: it's beautiful and wonderfully quaint. The hotel's restaurant was amazing, every meal delicious and the service excellent. We also enjoyed afternoon tea each day, with warm scones, a lovely view, and a good book. We'll definitely be back!

Breakfast and dinner were both great, and the hotel is right in the centre of town, within walking distance of lots of places. We had a delightful few days and would come back. Our only concern was access to the rooms: they're all one or two flights of stairs up, and there's no elevator.

Lunch in the garden behind the hotel was delicious. The personal service and food presentation showed incredible attention to detail. The Saturday lunchtime wait staff were simply excellent. It's a real hidden gem on the high street, and I'd highly recommend it if you're in Tetbury. I'll be back for the fish and chip supper and any other events they hold.

My sister and I brought our Gran for a special trip after losing our grandad, and this was probably the best hotel experience I've had, even though I travel a lot. The staff seemed genuinely happy to be there and were ready to help with anything. The manager, I think, was a lovely man who went out of his way to get us help with a taxi to highgrove. I can't thank the staff enough or recommend the place enough. The hotel is beautiful, right in the main part of Tetbury and within easy walking distance of everything. After exploring, we relaxed in the large gardens, with deckchairs and a water fountain. The wait staff checked in without being annoying, and dinner was amazing. Our server was chatty and helpful with recommendations. I also loved the dog-themed artwork around the hotel. The room was great, the bed insanely comfortable, and the bathroom decor so nice. The shower was easy to use, even my 94-year-old Gran said so. Breakfast the next morning was delicious, with cold items at the buffet as well as hot dishes you could order.
