The staff were helpful and hospitable throughout, and Adam, Sarah, Jade and Gio deserve a special thank you for making our Christmas memorable. We felt looked after from the time we arrived until we left, and the Christmas food was lovely. This was my third visit to The Bell In and Hotel, and I came back for its atmosphere and old-world charm. It's a very old building with lovely character, though some areas urgently need repair and care. Greeneking should put more money into it, because I think it's a jewel in their crown. The hotel is extremely central in Thetford, and some rooms look out over the river. My one issue was a very draughty window that made my room cold when the wind blew hard. I understand there's a window repair program planned, which is great and would make me think even more highly of the place. Thank you.

The staff were amazing and very welcoming. I'd employ every one of them. The rooms are spacious, but tired and a little shabby, and the whole place needs major investment. With the rates they're charging now, I can't see that happening. The food was poor, mostly precooked frozen dishes that hadn't been reheated properly. My beef and ale pie was ice cold. I'd stay again if the food improved a lot.

We'd planned to have a drink, then a meal and carry on from there, but we felt rushed and left. As soon as we arrived, we were told to go into the bar because a large group was expected shortly. That left us about 20 minutes to sit down and choose our food.

We came with family for a wedding over the weekend. The rooms were damp and smelled musty, and my son's meal was forgotten, then brought out still raw. Nine people from the wedding have since become ill. Customer service was terrible, with only two people covering the wedding and the main restaurant and bar.

The hotel needs a refurb, and for what I paid, it wasn't worth it. The rooms were shabby, with a terrible bathroom: mould, dirty areas, split floor covering and sealant, and a loose toilet seat. The staff were very pleasant and the food was good, but I was very disappointed with the room.
