Badgers Rest

We were glad we did the walks to the Castle and Church on foot. They’re not easy routes, but the Cornish coast was worth it, and the weather added to that ancient, mysterious atmosphere. There’s a land rover service from the top of the hill if you need it. Badgers Rest made a comfortable, welcoming base to come back to after exploring. We spent a week there in the off season, with weather that seemed intent on blowing everything into the sea, but never once felt cold, uncomfortable, or bored. The shepherds hut is small, though its clever layout keeps it from feeling cramped, and the wood burner made it cosy. We could cook a proper breakfast and simple comfort food for tea with the induction hob and combi-oven. Tintagel village is an easy walk away, with some lovely cafes and pubs to warm up in after a bracing walk. Our hosts were especially friendly and accommodating, and went out of their way to help us. A perfect winter break for us, and worth every penny. 11/10.
